Aunt Audrey's Salad Oil Cake





Salad Oil Cake
2 Cup Sugar
1/3 Cup cocoa
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baling soda
3/4 Cup Mazola Oil
1 tsp vanilla
2 Cup Cold water
2 Tbsp Vinegar

Put flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, and baking soda in a large bowl. Add oil, vanilla, vinegar and cold water. Mix until well-blended. Pour into a greased cake pan and bake for 40 to 45 minutes in a 350 degree oven.

Chocolate Frosting (Never Fails)
1 1/2 cup sugar
5 Tbsp Butter
6 Tbsp Milk
1 Cup chocolate chips.

Combine in a saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup chocolate chips. Beat until frosting holds its shape, then spread on cooled cake.

Oh my gosh, I'm glad I found your blog today! This looks sooooo yummy. It reminds me of a recipe my grandma used to make...a mayonnaise cake.

This post gave me total flashback. My mom used to make this cake all the time. I don't bake, much, but I have made it from time to time. To this day it is still my very favorite chocolate cake, with a few (read "thousands") chocolate chips in it!
