TOMS Shoes - Bless A Child Today

The other day I was having dinner with a few lady friends and I looked down and saw that my friend was wearing a pair of TOMS Shoes I was very excited to see them on her feet and they are so cute! I asked her if she knew the story about TOMS shoes and she said of course I do - that's why I bought them!!! and for the fact they look good.

TOMS Shoeswas founded by Blake Mycoskie. In 2006, Blake was in Argentina traveling and befriended several children and found that they had no shoes to protect their feet. Many children in developing countries do not have shoes and the large possibility for infection, disease, and even death is a high risk.

Wearing shoes prevents feet from getting cuts and sores where serious bacteria can enter... Another reason for shoes is that many children miss the opportunity to attend school where shoes are required - TOMS Shoesis the chance for a child to live healthy and attend school to better enrich their lives.

TOMS Shoeswas founded on the simple premise: With every pair ofTOMS Shoes you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One...

Since our beginning in May 2006, TOMS has given over 140,000* pairs of shoes to children in need through the purchases of caring customers. Because of your support, TOMS plans to give over 300,000 pairs of shoes to children in need around the world in 2009.

*As of April 2009

I read a cool saying recently, it went something like,"Vote with your dollars." It was by an enviromental standpoint, but it could be for any thing you cared about.
I thought about that idea for a long time. We can vote every day.
Thanks for this post.

This is a wonderful post. I have heard of it before, thanks for the reminder. And it's good to tell everyone about it before school starts.

I love Toms shoes and their designs, but seems it's nothing but marketing to me. I've contacted them many times regarding a question I've had about the shoes, and they never responded to me. So I found their number and called them. They weren't apologetic about it, the attitude was like,"so what was your question".

As long as they make a buck and use your sympathy to sell shoes, they don't seem to care.
