One of my favorite movies from the 80s was Pretty in Pink. This scene where Duckie sings 'Try A Little Tenderness' reminds me of my "Duckie" in high school.... Good memories..
The theme for this week on Musical Monday hosted by Diane at Good Mourning, Glory! is Musical Therapy... I had a hard time choosing just one song... There are different songs for different moods... So I thought I would just show you how bizarre and diverse my moods can be....
Therapy for my romantic side...
Therapy for my Spiritual Side
Therapy for my Rebel Side... Total Eighties
Berlin - Sex
Therapy for my Mom moments...
And Lastly - my Therapy for Loving Madonna... (call me crazy but I like her version)
As many of you know by now - I am a total Carole King fan.. Love love her... I remember when I was in elementary school and I had just bought her "new" album Tapestry.. I loved every song on the album still do.....
This week - Fabulous Diane from Good Mourning, Glory! dared us to share with you our loyal blogger buddies the songs that we love to sing like no one is listening.... When I hear this song I have to grab a hairbrush and sing as if I'm Carole herself... I cannot control it... I'm A Natural Woman - so there, Simon!

Diane challenged us to find a song that when we hear it - it just gets stuck in our head.. Of course - for me - it's usually the worst possible song... The kind of song that can DRIVE me completely INSANE and thanks to this little challenge - I am in Brady Bunch HELL..... thanks, Diane... Love ya.
Here in Southern California today we had a pretty good sized earthquake centered a little south of the Mexican Border... It was a long and pretty strong one... I was sitting in my car at a red light and all of sudden by car was bouncing on all 4 tires and the light poles around me started to dance... good times.. good times..
Just got to listen to Carole King - Love her!!! Hoping to see her and James Taylor in concert soon....
It's Monday and time for Musical Monday - What Moves You? Hosted by Diane at Good Mourning, Glory! Be sure to visit this talented writer... artist ... and mother...
One of my favorite TV shows was Buffy The Vampire Slayer - I know it was cheezy - but in that cheese I found some interesting story lines - okay maybe the one with the Preying mantis eating the students wasn't one of the best and okay the Hyenas not so great but there were many shows that I thought were pretty good.
The Best Show I believe was Buffy The Vampire Slayer the Musical - the lyrics - and music I thought were great - funny... and believe it - thought provoking. The premise of this video is this:
Buffy died and her witch friend, Willow cast a spell and brought her back to life several months after she was gone.. Her friends did not understand why she was not happy to be back until it was revealed in this song.... deep..

The summer before my sophomore year in high school - Queen came to our town - The thrill - the excitement - the "I'm staying at a friend's house" kind of night and going off to a far distant land, known as Los Angeles to see Queen in concert.... - If only my parents knew... I would not be here writing this today.....
July 11, 1980 for about $10 - Queen Rocked My World...

I have always been a Patsy Cline fan so when Ryan Seacrest said that Lilly Scott was going to sing a favorite of mine by Patsy Cline - Fall to Pieces - I was really excited.... because I think Lilly has amazing talent..... Unfortunately, this song was not for her - she fell to pieces and America voted and she went home.... ( I do not believe this is the last we will see of this amazing girl)
It's time for Musical Monday - What moves you? hosted by Diane at Good Mourning, Glory! Be sure to go visit Diane for a fun blogging experience and tell her I said "hi".
When Carrie Underwood came out with this song I had to laugh - why? Because the only thing I could think when I heard the song was been there.... done that... Granted it was a really long time ago - way before I met my husband.... But heart break in a relationship can bring out the worst in people... I think there was lesson learned by my ex - to make sure that when he decides to cheat - make sure that his girlfriend's best friend isn't there..... and the lesson I learned was don't give your heart away so easily.....

When I was in my first grown up relationship - I was so afraid to give my heart... I was so afraid to be hurt... again.. This song was dedicated to me on the radio back in 1988 - from that moment on..... I became a Billy Vera and The Beaters Fan....
It's Monday and the time for Musical Monday - What moves you? Hosted by Diane at Good Mourning, Glory. I spend most of the week trying to figure out what song I want to post... This week was pretty easy - let me tell you why....
Saturday I was invited to a TV studio to see a show... I can't tell you anything about what I saw until a week from today - Monday 2/15/09. Actually, I can't say anything at all until around 8:01 PM on 2/22 - Pacific Time. You see, I signed a form that prohibits me from saying anything at all or I could run the risk of being penalized Five (5) million dollars - yes, you read that right... But what I can say is this.....
He's beautiful... but shorter than I thought They were more beautiful in person Drama drama drama oh, and I won 2 Kings hockey tickets because I was the most "rowdiest" audience member - they wanted loud and I delivered.....
So - I will leave you with this song..... hmmm I wonder what I did... Can you figure it out?
It's Monday and it's time for Musical Monday - What Moves you - Hosted by one of my favorite blogger friends Diane at Good Mourning, Glory! Be sure to visit Diane after you watch this music video.
Our children see and hear everything we do.... Many times, we don't notice how our bad behavior affects our kids.... I see it when I hear one of my kids talk down to the other - they sound like me and my husband when we fight... My dad yelled and cursed when he was angry - so do I.... It's something - I have to work on everyday.... every minute.... I don't want my kids repeating my actions....
The first time I say this video - I cried... How many times have you just wished for a do-over...? One moment in time if you had done something differently - how much better things could have been... When we give our self away to the wrong choices - it affects everyone.... not just us but the ones we love the most...

One of my first memories as a child was a record album by Leslie Gore - across the cover read "Sunshine Lollipops, and Rainbows" This is the first album I took ownership of - it was my sister's but either she "outgrew it" or I just inherited it... I'm not sure.... But needless to say it became mine. I remember setting all my stuffed animals in my room as my own personal audience and I would dance around my room - singing this song.... Also - I use the quote "Sunshine Lollipops, and Rainbows" when I am trying to explain a great feeling.... So here's to you - my bloggie friends. Here's wishing you a "Sunshine Lollipops, and Rainbows" Kind of week....
Once again it's time for Musical Monday - What Moves You? Hosted by Diane at Good Mourning, Glory . Be sure to go and visit Diane - She's the Best.
My niece, Kristin sent me this video last week.... I have to warn you it is shocking.... It is a video - I believe created in Australia for DUI drivers... It is heartbreaking - graphic - and something I believe many should see... I clearly remember the days when I was a young girl driving home from a party and/or bar and being thankful that I did not kill anyone or myself...
Come Join us For Musical Monday - What moves you - hosted by Diane at Good Mourning, Glory!
What truly cracks me up is when my kids believe a song of theirs is an original.... Songs I listened to while I was growing up are now being remade...by various artists..
I was introducing my kids to The Fiddler on The Roof - one of my all time favorite movies... and when Tevye starts singing about being a "Rich man" my kids thought he copied the song from Gwen Stefani..... If I was a Rich Girl... funny..
One of my favorite blogs is Good Mourning, Glory - I love her wit and her incredible artistic talent - Every Monday she hosts Musical Monday - What Moves You - drop by and give her a visit... Tell her Kelly sent you....
Last weekend - I watched Working Girl with my kids... Watching the movie and hearing Carly Simon Sing - Let the River Run - reminded me how far I have come... How hard I have worked to get where I am and Not to give up - there are Happy Endings....
I love the Christmas Season - I am sharing this song on the last Monday before Christmas. There's a little story behind it that I want to share...
When I was in the 7th grade so many moons ago - my junior high had a Christmas program. At the end of the program - all the children stood around the auditorium holding hands and singing "Oh Holy Night"... I was a kid that had the worst voice ever - seriously.... I still can't sing worth beans... Any way - my mom and dad came to the performance - afterward as mom, dad, and I were walking to the car my dad told me that it was his favorite song.... He said he could hear me singing and I sounded like an angel to him..... Now that he has passed away and this is my second Christmas with him gone - I wanted to share this song with you - every time I hear it - I can't help but well up..... God bless you and Merry Christmas to you and yours.
