We Will Sit At The Table And Have Conversation..

I have a roast in the crock pot.... Not sure why... I don't particularly care for pot roast... or any kind of roast for that matter... I do have a husband and kids to feed.. The kids are not fans either... not sure if the hubs is - mostly because it's not something that I typically cook... Lately we have been dining on "what you can find in the kitchen before anyone else finds it"... This meal has been a common occurrence lately due to mom being too busy to cook - the kids are too busy to eat dinner at the same time - and the husband is out of town more often than he is home... But tonight everyone will be here by 6:30 PM and we will sit down at the table together with plates, napkins, utensils, and conversation....

So tonight it's pot roast - I was walking through the grocery store this morning in search of something to make for dinner.. something that I don't have to spend too much time making...
I saw the big chunk of meat and voila... dinner was found... The meat also came with a little popper thingy that I can put into it to make sure I cook it correctly... that's a good thing...


Rump roast
2 large carrots
2 onions cut in half
3 red potatoes
1 parsnip (can't stand them - but the husband seems to like - yuck)
1 packet of savory pot roast mix....

crock pot it for 8 hours....

My eldest made homemade bread from scratch yesterday - if there is any left we can use it to sop up the gravy/juice....

I have this basket of photos - the basket is about 20 pounds and carries probably over 3000 photos - pictures before I became digital... My goal one day is to have them scanned into photo folders but to find the time to do this would be a major undertaking... For fun - I decided to close my eyes - stick my hand in and pull out 30 random photos and blog about each one.... So here I go....

This picture is from our family trip to Yellowstone National Park. I did not know until my visit there that there are many geysers and springs next to Old Faithful... There is a large wooden walkway around all the different geysers and springs... the smell of sulfur is so strong that it made my eyes water.... This particular picture is the "Ear Spring"... Can you figure out why????

This is was great trip about 21 years ago - My husband's parents treated the family (before kids) to a trip to Cabo San Lucas for fishing and fun... We caught a bunch of Dorado Fish and a huge Blue Marlin - we had the fish frozen to take home... Yummy... At night we went partying.. This is my mother in law enjoying a little Sangria at Squid Ro... Fun was had by all...

Our 50 Year Old Pet

We got a new pet recently... and I am in love.... He is curious.. loves to climb.. he loves watermelon, cantaloupe, rose petals, green leafy vegetables, and drinks water by putting his complete head in the bowl and slurping.... He is over 50 years old.... He is slow and steady and has a stubborn personality... For now he is tucked away in our garage... in a bed filled with newspaper and a blanket to block out the light. I'm looking forward to Spring to spend time watching his antics again....

My September To Do List

My To Do List for September..

1. Have a mom and daughters day - hair and nails -
2. Get a massage - just a "me" day.
3. Cook most nights because my husband and kids like my cooking.
4. Spend time in the morning - thanking God for my blessings.
5. Help a friend in need in secret
6. Get two (2) new clients.
7. Go away for a weekend.
8. Spend more time with my mom
9. Spend more time with my husband
10. Spend less time with the kids - they'll be in school....sigh
    
11. Start my Christmas shopping
12. Find 7 tea settings - for my ministry tea party
13. Read my Bible more....
14. Do as many acts of kindness I can do
15. Set a loving example for my kids

In today's busy world it is so very easy to forget the important things in life... The most important things... my relationship with my Heavenly Father and my relationship with my family... I need to make our time together count....

Laugh Till Your Stomach Hurts

One of God's biggest blessings he has given us is the ability to laugh.. As babies we laughed out loud to the most fun things.... a silly face... a fun rattle.... a puppy licking our faces... As babies we found the joy in the little things in life... As adults - many of us have lost that joy...

Today I was sharing a story with my kids about the time I accidentally peed on my friend because I was laughing so hard... Sounds kinda gross but when you're thirteen not so much - didn't get her wet or anything... I jumped up in time... but nevertheless - it was the best kind of laugh.. Even today, this friend is still a very good friend and sometimes we reminisce about the good old days... by saying "Remember that time you peed on me?" Then we laugh ourselves silly again..

I remember my family - (sisters, mom, and dad) we were trying to take a group picture.. We were all joking about not blinking for the camera or making sure our eyes don't squint too much and all of sudden we just start laughing - the kind of laugh you can't stop and next you know everything else is funny too... those are awesome laughs..

But my all time favorite kind of laughing is the ones I share with my kids... Admittedly, I am a pretty silly with my kids and I believe they love the fact I can laugh at myself and laugh at them... My teenager likes to pretend she's embarrassed and the next thing I know she is giving her own... and that is funny..... I really enjoying the teenager smirks...most of the time.......
We have our little inside jokes and it is a great thing.. and I know we will remember them forever. And when I am gone to my home in the sky - my kids will remember fondly the jokes we shared when they were kids and adults... (I plan on hanging around for a long while)

So today and everyday, I encourage you to have that big fat laugh... The kind that makes me you almost pee your pants.....and if you do pee that's okay just change....

Quit Smoking Today - if not for you... for your loved ones.... My dad died because he smoked.. I look at my husband's dad Darrell who is one year older than my dad and Darrell is full of life... He golfs often, he plays often, he travels often, and he is living....daily.

I quit smoking three years ago... I went to the dentist for oral surgery and my blood pressure was 200/110 and I was only 40 years old... I came home, got on my knees and prayed for God to take away my want of tobacco, and threw my full pack in trash.... and never looked back.. I used to smoke two packs a day since high school! My mom quit smoking after over fifty years and she looks very good today and her cough is GONE!

Resurrection Eggs

Every Easter my family discusses the meaning of Easter by using Our Resurrection Eggs. It's a fun way to remind ourselves of the purpose of Easter, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
You can make your own Resurrection Eggs too! This is how you can do it..

You will need 12 plastic eggs that open in different colors if possible, an egg carton, and a Bible
Each egg will have an item, Bible verse and explanation of the item that represents the Easter Story. The eggs are to numbered 1-12 or you can go by color.. You can write/type and put the meaning in each egg or you can use a cheat sheet and describe the egg after the participate opens the egg. It's up to you....If little kids open the eggs, I would have the cheat sheet..

Egg #1 A Donkey (plastic or draw one) or piece of a tree branch/leaf
Read Matthew 21:1-9 The Donkey and/or branch represents Jesus coming into town on a lowly donkey just before His death and resurrection. People were shouting Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.The people were laying branches on the road for Jesus to cross over on. (what many people don't know is that it was a common tradition for a king to ride on a donkey in times of peace.

Egg #2 Silver coins. I use a quarter and nickel to represent the 30 silver coins.
Read Matthew 26:14-16, 46-50, 27:1-5 Judas accepted 30 silver coins for betraying Jesus into the hands of the Jewish leaders.

Egg #3 Passover cup or crackers. Use your imagination- a barbie cup, a drawing of a cup..saltine crackers.. Read Matthew 26:17-19, 26-28; Exodus 12:23 At Jesus' last supper with His disciples before He died on the cross, He used the cup of wine and bread to explain His death. This was during the Passover...

Egg #4 Praying hands. You can use a picture of Jesus praying..
Read Mark 14:32-42 Praying hands reminds us that Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray with His disciples

Egg #5 Leather whip - cut a small piece of leather from a belt, bracelet..
Read John 19:1-15 After Jesus' trial by Pilate, the Roman soldiers used leather ropes with rocks and metal woven in to whip Jesus leaving 39 deep gashes in His skin

Egg #6 Crown of Thorns - take a thorn off a rose plant...
Read Matthew 27:29-31 The soldiers who crucified Jesus placed a crown of thorns on His head, so they could mock Him by saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"

Egg #7 Nails in the Cross - 3 nails
Read John 19:16-22 Three large nails were driven into Jesus' hands and feet to nail Him to the cross.

Egg #8 Dice for Gambling - one or two dice
Read John 19:23-25 The Roman soldiers used dice to gamble for Jesus' robe

Egg #9 Soldier's Spear - use a twig or draw a spear
Read John 19:31-37 Roman soldiers used a spear to pierce Jesus' side when He was on the cross.

Egg #10 Linen Wrapping - a small piece of white cloth
Read Matthew 27:57-61 Joseph of Arimathea wrapped the body of Jesus in a linen cloth after He died on the cross.

Egg #11 Stone of the Tomb - a small rock
Read Matthew 28:1-3 The huge stone that covered the tomb was rolled away.

Egg #12 Empty
Read Matthew 28:5-8 Jesus' tomb was empty because He rose from the dead.
